India's Covishield vaccine approved by eight European countries, bowing to India's tough stance

New Delhi, July 1, 2021, Thursday

The vaccine crisis for Indians seeking to move to Europe after the corona virus has subsided seems to be coming to an end.

The Indian vaccine Covishield has been recognized by seven European Union countries as well as Switzerland. Earlier, European Union countries had announced that they would not give green passes to Indians who have been vaccinated in India. However, the Indian government has since taken an aggressive stance in the matter, threatening to quarantine people from European countries for 14 days as part of retaliatory action if European countries do not recognize the Indian vaccine.

However, now seven European countries, including Germany, have ratified India's Covishield vaccine. The green pass scheme has been implemented by Europe amid the Corona epidemic from today. Under this, people from outside will be allowed to travel to different countries in Europe.

Earlier, the European Medicines Agency had refused to approve the Covishield vaccine given to Indians. The agency had the capacity regarding its quality. If the vaccine was not approved, it would have been difficult for vaccinated Indians to enter Europe, but the European countries had to bow down after the Indian government took a tough stance.
