Normally a person gets 6 to 8 hours of sleep and stays active during the rest of the time but a 6 year old person from Bhadwa village in Nagor district of Rajasthan sleeps 300 days in a year. Surprisingly, he does everything from eating to bathing while he is asleep. Due to his strange habit of sleeping in this way, the villagers refer to a person named Purkharam as Kumbhakarna. It takes 3 to 4 hours of hard work to wake up this Purkharam. Despite the best efforts of the family, his sleep is only open for 8 to 10 minutes. It eats and bathes during this period.

However, sometimes it happens that despite all the efforts, it lasts for 20 to 5 days. No matter how disturbing it is, sleep does not fly. This sequence has been going on for 3 years now. Doctors say that Purkharam has a disease called Axis Hyper Somnia. It is a disease in which a person is always asleep. Even when he wakes up, his brain remains drowsy. Porkharam was married from an early age.

According to his wife Lichmadevi, when the disease started, he only slept for 3 to 4 days, but after that the period increased. He often falls asleep in a chair when he is forcibly lifted and placed in a chair. Sleep deprivation occurs when anything is reminded. Talks also do very little. Purkharam's family consists of a mother and two daughters in addition to his wife. Earlier, they used to run shops in the village when the incidence of the disease was low, but after 2014, the incidence of this sleep has increased significantly. So family members have to work hard to make a living. The villagers call him Kumbhakarna but the family members take great care of him.
