Grandpa and uncle were offended by wearing jeans, killing a 17-year-old girl

Uttar Pradesh, dated 22 July 2021, Thursday

Amidst the talk of women's equality, women in a number of areas of the country are still fighting against the atrocities of the male dominated society.

In one such embarrassing case in Deoria, UP, a 17-year-old girl was beaten to death by her grandfather and uncle for wearing jeans.

The girl was studying in Ludhiana and despite the refusal of her grandfather and uncle, she dared to wear jeans and other western clothes. She had been forced not to wear jeans since she returned to the village. When the teenager disobeyed the family, her grandfather and uncle got angry and started beating her. Meanwhile, his head hit a wall and he died of his injuries.

Grandpa and uncle threw the body down from the bridge on the highway to escape the police. However the corpse was trapped in the grill of the bridge. People passing by the road informed the police. Then came the case.

Police say the teenager had been forced to wear a question suit since she returned from Ludhiana with her mother. The teenager, however, refused to believe this.

Police have arrested his grandfather Hasnain and his uncle is still absconding. The girl's mother has not yet given a statement to the police but neighbors told police that her grandfather and uncle were upset with the teenager for wearing western clothes.
