Unemployment in rural areas rose to 6.75 per cent while in urban areas it rose to 8.01 per cent

New Delhi: Unemployment is on the rise amid the Corona epidemic and inflation. Unemployment has risen in both urban and rural areas. These figures have been released by the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy. As per July 25, the unemployment rate in rural areas has risen to 6.75 per cent.

Unemployment rate has increased not only in rural but also in urban areas. The unemployment rate in rural areas, which was 5.1 per cent earlier, has risen to 6.75 per cent. CMIE said unemployment has also increased in urban areas. However, the rate of increase in urban unemployment is lower than that in rural areas.

The unemployment rate in urban areas stood at 8.01 per cent as against 7.94 per cent a week ago. According to CMIE, the unemployment rate for the week ended July 25 was 7.14 per cent. The unemployment rate was 5.98 per cent a week ago. Unemployment in urban areas has been below nine per cent since the beginning of July.

The second wave of corona has had a sweet effect on employment. Implementing lockdowns in different states deprived people of employment. Still night curfew has been imposed in many states thus affecting the employment of traders and hawkers. The greatest impact was seen in the unorganized sectors.
