Expect the necessary defense service ordinance to be passed in the form of a bill

The government is set to introduce 12 bills, including the essential defense service bill, in the monsoon session starting Monday. In addition, the government will introduce three bills that will replace the ordinance. The government will introduce 18 bills this session, including the DNA Technology Bill, the Parents and Senior Citizens Nutrition and Welfare Bill and the Factoring Regulation Research Bill.

The government has listed 13 new bills to be introduced in the monsoon session, three of which will replace the recently announced ordinances. When the session begins, the ordinance has to be passed as a bill in 3 days or six weeks, otherwise it is canceled.

The central government had on June 20 issued an ordinance banning any movement or strike by essential defense services personnel. As the government decides to corporatise the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB), most of the OFB organizations have announced an indefinite strike in late July. Following which the government has brought the essential defense service ordinance.

In addition, a bill to set up a commission to manage air quality in the national capital will be replaced by an ordinance. According to the government, the Center had issued an ordinance to bring a permanent solution to air pollution in the Delhi-NCR areas and to set up a self-regulated, democratically monitored system. The bill will be introduced in the monsoon session. In addition, the BJP MP may introduce a personal bill on population control and a uniform civil code this session.
