Eventually Navjot Singh Sidhu became the new state president, Sonia Gandhi took the decision

New Delhi, 18 July 2021 Sunday

A big decision has been taken amid the crisis of the Punjab Congress. The Congress party has finally elected Navjot Singh Sidhu as the Punjab state president. Four acting presidents have also been appointed in view of the Punjab Assembly elections. A letter has been released by Casey Venugopal for this. The letter states that Congress President Sonia Gandhi has taken this decision.

The names of those who have been made acting presidents in the state include Sangat Singh, Sukhwinder Singh Danny, Pawan Goyal and Kuljit Singh Nagra.

It is now clear in the party that Captain Amarinder Singh will be the Chief Minister of Punjab and Navjot Singh Sidhu will now lead the Congress in the state. But this controversy does not seem to be over, it could escalate the controversy. Indeed, all the MLAs had written a letter to Sonia Gandhi on Sunday requesting her not to hand over the post of state president to Navjot Singh Sidhu.

The most important thing here is. That so far whenever a chief minister or president is made from the Congress, the state executive writes a letter in the name of Sonia Gandhi. But this is the first time the state has convened an executive meeting, and the president has been announced. The Punjab Congress state executive has called a meeting on Monday to decide whether the decision of the high command will be accepted by the state Congress. But even before this meeting, the decision came from Delhi.

A letter issued by Congress general secretary Casey Venugopal thanked the incumbent Congress state president Sunil Jakhar for the work done so far. It has been said that Kuljit Singh Nagra, who is currently in charge of AICC in Sikkim, Nagaland and Tripura, will be relieved of the post.
