Kolkata: The Neil Ratan Government Medical Hospital in Kolkata has received more than 8,000 applications for six posts of lab assistants. The salary for the job is only 15 thousand.

Six posts of Lab Assistant were to be filled in the Government Medical Hospital, Kolkata. The application for the post was called in December last year. The age limit was 18 to 40 years and the educational qualification was at least eight passes. He was to get a salary of Rs 15,000 for the post.

8000 applications were received for this post. Not only did government job graduates line up, but postgraduate and engineering students also flocked.

According to the hospital, they received applications from 100 engineers, 500 postgraduate youths and 2200 graduate youths. Out of the total applications, 784 including 84 women were given call letters for the written examination. The examination for this post will be held on 1st August.

The hospital's official statement said: "Some of the applicants have not been called for the written test as they are over-qualified." Officials said this was the first time such an application had been received. Previously, only those who worked in a hospital or were familiar with the field applied for the position of Lab Assistant.
