Corona cases less than 50,000 for the seventh day in a row

New Delhi: Less than 50,000 cases of corona have been reported for the seventh day in a row. Today 43,071 new cases of corona have surfaced. On the other hand, the number of active cases has come down to 4,85,350, the health ministry said in a statement.

The death toll from the corona has dropped to 4,85,350 with a further 955 deaths. The National Covid-19 recovery rate has also improved to 97.09 per cent, the ministry said in a statement. The number of active cases has dropped by 10,183 in the last 24 hours.

Corona had 18,38,490 tests in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 41,82,54,953 corona tests have been conducted in the country. The daily positivity rate is recorded at 2.34 per cent. For the 27th day in a row, the positivity rate has been below five per cent. The total number of corona cases in India crossed two crore on May 4 and 3 crore on June 23.

The 955 deaths from corona in the last 24 hours include 371 in Maharashtra, 135 in Kerala and 115 in Tamil Nadu. The total death toll so far is 4,02,005 with Maharashtra having the highest at 1,22,724.

The Union Health Ministry further said that so far 35.12 crore people in the country have been vaccinated against corona. More than 1 million people aged 18 to 44 in 13 states have been given the first dose of the vaccine. These 13 states include Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Haryana, Jharkhand, Kerala, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.
