Corona cases increase due to public negligence: Center

(PTI) New Delhi, Dt

As the number of corona cases in the country is declining, the public is once again becoming careless and violating the corona protocol, which has resulted in an increase in corona cases for the third day in a row, the central government has warned. Experts have also previously predicted a third wave of corona in August-September. Meanwhile, 4,050 new cases of corona were reported in the country on Friday, while four more died. With this, for the third day in a row, the number of active cases has crossed 4.08 lakh.

The central government said that corona cases have increased significantly in some states due to non-compliance with Corona protocol by the public, removal of lockdowns and easing of controls as the number of corona cases has decreased. Minister of State for Health Bharti Praveen Pawar said that according to the World Health Organization, variants of Corona like Delta and Delta Plus are spreading the infection rapidly.

In addition, with the removal of lockdowns and easing of restrictions, people have stopped following Corona protocols such as wearing masks and maintaining social distance, which has led to a significant increase in Corona cases in some states, which is worrying. In some states, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Manipur, cases of corona are on the rise with new variants like Delta Plus and Lambda.

The health ministry said on Friday that the number of corona cases in the country had risen to 2,50 in the last three hours, with six more deaths. With this, the total number of cases has crossed 2.15 lakh while the death toll has crossed more than 4.5 lakh. For the third day in a row, the number of active cases in the country has risen to 2.08 lakh. It is noteworthy that Corona's case suddenly rose due to the negligence of the people at the time when Corona's fatal second wave began. As the situation repeats itself, the country's daily corona cases have risen by more than 15,000 in the last three days.

In the last three hours, there has been an increase of 1,215 in active cases. A total of more than 2.09 crore patients have recovered from corona in the country so far. The country has a daily positivity rate of 7.5 per cent and a weekly positivity rate of 7.5 per cent. So far, more than 2.5 crore doses of corona vaccine have been given in the country.

Meanwhile, the suspension of regular international passenger flights has been extended till August 31 due to the Corona epidemic, said the Civil Aviation Regulatory Authority (DGCA). However, on a case-by-case basis, the competent authority may allow international flights on selected routes, said the Director General of Civil Aviation.

Due to the global Corona epidemic, regular international passenger services have been suspended since March 4, 2020, but special international flights have been allowed under the Vande Bharat Mission starting May 2020 and air bubble arrangements with selected countries from July 2020. India has allowed special international flights under the Air Bubble with six countries, including the United States, Britain, the UAE, Kenya, Bhutan and France.

Directs states to run special vaccination sessions for the poor-beggars

New Delhi, Dt

The Central Government has directed the States and Union Territories to conduct special vaccination sessions for the poor, disadvantaged, beggars and day laborers. The central government has asked the states to hold a special session for this category as these people cannot register on the co-win platform for vaccination themselves and they do not have sufficient resources for vaccination. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said state governments could enlist the help of NGOs and social organizations to hold such special sessions. He added that the nationwide vaccination campaign is people-centric and special provisions have been made for all people above the age of 18 to be vaccinated irrespective of socio-economic status.
