LONDON: Researchers in the UK have analyzed public health data and found that children and adolescents have a much lower risk of dying from coronary heart disease or serious illness. However, if the child is suffering from a serious illness, it can become more serious due to corona infection. But overall the risks are minimal.

Preliminary findings from a study by a team of researchers from University College London, the University of Bristol and the University of York and the University of Liverpool have been submitted to various UK authorities, including the World Health Organization.

Russell Weiner, a professor at University College London, said the new study showed that children and adolescents had a much lower risk of dying or becoming seriously ill from corona infections. Our new findings are important as they will help make the decision to vaccinate adolescents and children not only in the UK but also internationally.

Another researcher, Dr. Joseph Ward, said: "Our study found that black children were more at risk of being admitted to the ICU than whites." Adolescents who have diabetes, asthma and heart disease or who have more than one illness are at the highest risk of being treated in the ICU.

By February 2021, 251 adolescents under the age of 18 in England had been treated for corona in the ICU. One in 50,000 adolescents needed to be treated in the ICU, according to researchers. Adolescents and children are also at risk of serious coronary heart disease due to obesity.

In the Philippines, meanwhile, children who have been trapped in homes for more than a year due to the Corona epidemic have been allowed to play in gardens and playgrounds and go to restaurants. However they were not allowed to go to the mall. A total of 1.46 cases of corona have been reported in the Philippines and more than 25,000 people have died due to corona.

Meanwhile, Corona vaccine maker Pfizer plans to offer a booster dose of the vaccine every six to eight months in addition to two doses of the corona vaccine to meet the risk posed by a variant of the corona virus. Pfizer said it was safe to give a third dose of the existing corona vaccine to humans.
