CAA-NRC will not harm any Muslim in the country: Bhagwat

The Citizenship Reform Act (CAA) and the National Citizenship Registration (NRC) have nothing to do with the Hindu-Muslim divide. These issues have been made communal for political gain, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Wednesday. CAA will not harm any Muslim in the country. No citizen of the country is allowed to take any from CAA-NRC. People are being misled about these issues.

Bhagwat, who is on a two-day visit to Assam, stressed that no Muslim in the country would be harmed by the citizenship law. The country's first prime minister since independence has assured that minorities will be taken care of and that work is still being done. We will continue that work too. However, Pakistan has not taken care of minorities. Along with this, Bhagwat unveiled a book titled 'Citizenship Debate on Enormity and CAA-Assam and Politics of History'.

He added that after the year 150, there have been systematic efforts to increase the number of Muslims in the country. The idea behind this was that by increasing the population they would be able to establish their dominance and then make this country Pakistan. The idea was about Punjab, Sindh, Assam and Bengal. To some extent it also proved to be true. India was divided and became Pakistan.

"The CAA is not a law made against any Indian citizen," Bhagwat said. Citizenship law will provide protection to minorities facing harassment in neighboring countries. We have also tried to reach the majority of the population in these countries at the time of disaster. So if any of the minorities from the neighboring countries come to our country due to threats and intimidation, we will definitely be able to help them. Talking about NRC, he said that every country has the right to know who its citizens are. Some people in politics want to gain political advantage by making these two issues communal for political gain. This is Bhagwat's first trip to Assam since the BJP's return.
