BJP splits Nitish who opposes yogi's population control policy: Army

New Delhi, Dt

The issue of population control is under discussion across the country after the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh introduced a draft for the population control law. The Shiv Sena praised the Yogi government for drafting the population control law and advised the BJP to break with Nitish Kumar, who opposed the policy. The Congress, on the other hand, has announced its opposition to the population control policy at the national level when elections are scheduled to be held next year.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut welcomed Yogi Adityanath's draft on population control in a party mouthpiece and said the bill should not be introduced to take advantage of elections. While Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has opposed the Uttar Pradesh bill, the Shiv Sena has advised the BJP to withdraw support to the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar.

Amid rumors of BJP and Shiv Sena reuniting in Maharashtra, Sanjay Raut wrote that both Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have suffered due to overpopulation. People have to flee to other states for livelihood. These states need legislation to control the population. If Nitish Kumar opposes the population control policy, the BJP should split.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Sunday said there was no need to force or coerce the two-child law in the country for government gain and to contest elections. If the central government takes such an initiative at the national level, the Congress will oppose it. He termed the population control policy as the divisive agenda of the BJP. He said that it was the Modi government which in its Economic Survey 2017-18 had said that democratically, fertility rates in the states have declined dramatically through the spread of women's literacy, women's empowerment, economic growth, prosperity and urbanization.

Meanwhile, an important meeting with the top leadership of the BJP RSS, which is gearing up for next year's assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, ended on Sunday. The meeting lasted for about five and a half hours, in which Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present. The meeting discussed the functioning of the government as well as election strategy from the area. In addition, the meeting emphasized on efforts to strengthen the image of the party among the people on issues like law and order, population control policy, conversion in the state.
