A single dose of corona vaccine is sufficient for people recovering from corona infection. Infection causes these people to develop antibodies that can be increased after a single dose of the covyshield vaccine. Such people do not need to be given 2 doses of the vaccine. Scientists have given this advice based on studies conducted at medical institutes in Assam and Jammu and Kashmir. So far no such study has been conducted on the Covishield vaccine.

ICMR scientists believe that a single dose of the Covishield vaccine is sufficient for people recovering from the infection. According to him, if the government heeds this advice, vaccination can be expedited amidst the shortage of vaccines as a large part of the country's population is in the grip of transition during the second wave.

Adequate antibodies were recorded in the body a few days after the first dose of Covishield was given to those who had been previously infected during the study. But after a certain interval when he was given a second dose and followed up, there was no change due to the second dose. Adequate antibodies were reported after the first dose in 46 people who became infected, compared to 75 people who had never been infected before taking the vaccine.
