39 thousand new cases of corona, 90 per cent vaccination centers in Assam closed due to shortage

Vaccine shortage reports in Rajasthan and Pune too, states still have 20 million doses, Center claims

723 deaths from corona in 24 hours, total death toll reaches 4,02,728, active cases 4.82 lakh

New Delhi: In the last 24 hours, 39,796 new cases of corona have been reported in India. The death toll rose to 4,02,728 as 723 more people were killed. The number of active cases dropped to 4.82 lakh, which is 1.58 per cent of the total cases. Similarly, the recovery rate has come down to 97.11 per cent.

15.22 lakh corona tests were done in a single day, bringing the total number of tests to 41.97 crore. The daily positivity rate fell again to 2.61 per cent, down from five per cent for 28 consecutive days. The weekly positivity rate has also come down to 2.4 per cent. While a total of 2.97 crore people have beaten Corona and recovered.

The central government has said that the states still have 2.01 crore doses of corona vaccine, while a total of 36.97 crore doses have been given. On the other hand, in the midst of the Centre's claim, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has said that vaccination has been stopped in many districts due to shortage of corona vaccine in Rajasthan.

At present the state has only 70 thousand doses which are likely to be missed in a day. In Assam, too, there are reports of 90 per cent closure of centers due to shortage of vaccines. Many centers in Pune also had to be closed due to shortage of vaccines.
