12 BJP members suspended in Maharashtra Assembly for one year

A case of abusive treatment of the presiding officer

Fadnavis calls suspension decision a conspiracy to reduce opposition

Mumbai: Twelve BJP MLAs in the Maharashtra Assembly have been suspended for a year. An official said the action was taken against him for abusing presiding officer Bhaskar Jadhav. The two-day monsoon session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly got off to a flying start on Monday.

The suspended BJP MLAs include Sanjay Kute, Ashish Shelar, Abhimanyu Pawar, Girish Mahajan, Atul Bhatkhalkar, Parag Alvani, Harish Pimple, Ram Satpute, Jayakumar Rawal, Yogesh Sagar, Narayan Kuche and Kirtikumar.

State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anil Parbe sent a proposal to suspend the MLAs. It was passed through the soundtrack. Parbe said the 12 MLAs would not be allowed to enter the Mumbai and Nagpur assembly complexes during the suspension period.

BJP members, led by Devendra Fadnavis, protested against the decision, saying the opposition would boycott the House proceedings. Fadnavis said this is a false allegation and an attempt to reduce the number of opposition members. This is because we have exposed the government's lies on OBC quotas in local units.

He said BJP members did not insult the presiding officer. The Leader of the Opposition said that only Shiv Sena members used insults. I led my legislators out of the Speaker's room.

The former chief minister claimed that the whole chapter of Shelley's apology was over there. What Jadhav said was a one-sided deal. Earlier, NCP member Nawab Malik had accused BJP MLAs of abusing Jadhav and adjourned the state assembly four times on the issue.
