Why is the loudspeakers of mosques controlled in Saudi Arabia?

Riyadh, June 1, 2021, Tuesday

The level of sound has been fixed on the loudspeakers of all mosques in Saudi Arabia, which means that namaz can no longer be performed by keeping the volume too loud on the loudspeaker. Although the government's move has been opposed on social media, the minister of Islamic affairs has backed the move. At present, all the sound emanating from the loudspeaker has been reduced by one-third. Despite the outcry on social media over the rule, the government seems to be adamant.

Islamic Affairs Minister Abdul Latif al-Sheikh backed the move, saying the order came after complaints of excessive noise. The decision was made after information that children and the elderly were being harassed. The minister also added that those who have to offer prayers do not have to wait for the Imam's words. He should have reached the mosque just before the announcement over the loudspeaker. There was also an argument that many TV channels also broadcast Namaz and Quran recitations, thus limiting the use and purpose of loudspeakers. This is a policy decision that is being criticized and opposed by the enemies of the country. These people are provoking Awam.

According to the information received, Prince Mohammed bin Salman has been campaigning for liberalization in Saudi Arabia for a long time, so the move has been linked by the opposition. This young prince has removed social restrictions and barriers in an empire living in extreme fanaticism. For decades, the ban on movies and women's driving has been lifted. Women can now participate in music and sports activities together with men. The power of the country's religious police has also been reduced. Saudi Arabia's ultra-conservatives are annoyed by the liberal decisions being made one after another. Amidst this resentment there has also been a new decision to control the volume of loudspeakers.
