Why did the second wave of Corona become dangerous ?, CSIR researchers gave this reason

New Delhi, Monday 7 June 2021

The cause of the second wave of Corona in April was the sudden end of one mutation in the Delta variant and the emergence of another. Researchers from the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) say the mutation caused the Delta variant to spiral out of control, knocking out the slowly spreading British variant at the time.

According to research by Dr. Anurag Agarwal, Director, CSIR's Laboratory Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (ICIB) and other scientists, Delta Variant B.1.617 started growing in February-March. But in late March, changes were noted again in this variant. In one of its variants, a mutation E484Q abruptly disappeared and was replaced by a new mutation T478K. Subsequently, the disease was found to spread rapidly.

They based their findings on the genome sequencing of infected people in Delhi, but a similar situation is expected across the country. This new mutation i.e. B.1.617.2 is considered a cause of concern by Britain and WHO and has spread to many countries of the world.
