Vaccine prices fixed: Rs. 20, Sputnik's Rs. 1,15, Rs. 1910

The central government on Tuesday unveiled revised guidelines for the vaccination campaign. According to the new guidelines, the poor will be able to get vaccinated in private centers through non-transferable electronic vouchers. In addition the government has fixed the price limit of corona vaccine for private hospitals.

Under the new guidelines, under the new national vaccination program, Rs. 20, Sputnik-Vina Rs. 1,15 and Rs. 1910 prices have been fixed. The health ministry said it would be the responsibility of the states to ensure that private centers do not charge more than the fixed price of the vaccine. Private centers charge Rs. 150 will be able to take service charge.

According to the new guidelines, non-transferable electronic vouchers approved by the Reserve Bank of India will enable the economically weaker sections to get corona vaccine at private vaccination centers. The Co-Win platform will allow every citizen to book an appointment for vaccination at their convenience while citizens can register at all government and private vaccination centers and get vaccinated on the spot. In addition an individual or group of individuals will also be able to get vaccinated at these vaccination centers. A detailed process is being prepared for this, which will be given to the states soon. The new guidelines will come into effect from June 21. With this, the central government has warned the states that if the vaccine is wasted, it will have a negative impact on the allocation of vaccines.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday announced the launch of a national vaccination program from Yoga Day on June 21. The government on Tuesday issued revised guidelines for the implementation of the program. According to the new vaccination campaign, the center will procure 5 per cent of the total vaccines from vaccine manufacturers in the country while 5 per cent will be procured by private hospitals. The Center will purchase the vaccine and provide it to the states free of cost. To promote the spirit of public welfare, non-transferable electronic vouchers will facilitate the economically weaker sections of the society to be vaccinated at private centers. Based on the aggregate demand for vaccines from private hospitals, the center will provide them with vaccines and they will be paid through the National Health Authority's electronic platform.
