We will retaliate to protect the interests of our companies: China

WASHINGTON: Relations with China have not changed much since the change of power in the United States. The Biden administration on Thursday blacklisted 28 Chinese companies in a blacklist created by the former Trump administration. Companies whose names are on the blacklist are not allowed to invest in US investors. The United States has said it is abusing the military and security equipment provided by these companies to the Chinese government.

Former US President Donald Trump has blacklisted 31 Chinese companies over unsolicited business dealings during his tenure. According to the U.S. government, these companies are supplying or supporting military equipment to China's military and security agencies, which is being misused. Bringing some other Chinese companies under its purview has brought the number of companies on the US government's blacklist to 59.

If the Biden administration has blacklisted companies, most of them provide savvy technology to the Chinese government. China accuses the US government of using companies' technology to stifle dissent and violate human rights. In doing so, he says, China threatens the security of the United States and its allies and undermines its democratic values.

The US blacklist of Chinese companies includes large companies in the telecom, construction and technology sectors. It includes China Mobile, China Telecom, video surveillance company HikeVision and China Railway Construction Corp. The steps taken by the US government against China have strained relations between the two countries.

The Chinese government protested against the Trump government's blacklist before it blacklisted some of the companies here. He said the move by the US government was politically motivated and would protect the rights of companies in his country. He alleges that the US government blacklisted Chinese companies, ignoring the facts and the real situation.
