The Delta variant is becoming the most dangerous corona strain in the US

Former FDA chief Scott Gottlieb warns

Americans who have not been vaccinated have the highest risk of infection

WASHINGTON: Former FDA chief Scott Gottlieb said in a TV program called Face the Nation that the Delta variant of the Corona is becoming the most influential in the US and could cause a new epidemic by September. The current US infection rate is 10 percent, but its doubling rate is fortnightly.

He said it would not be a surprise if a new epidemic broke out by September due to the risk of delta. Americans who do not get vaccinated because of the Adelta variant have the highest risk of infection.

The Delta variant could become an effective strain in a week, the Daily Mail reported. Researcher Alexander Bolze said the Delta variant now has ten percent of cases against the U.S., compared to one percent last month.

More than six percent of the genetic sequences of corona infections point to delta variants, according to the country's leading infectious disease specialist, Dr. Anthony Fochi said in a warning last week. Scott Gottlieb said mRNA vaccines have been shown to be effective against this variant.

The Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca vaccines are 60 percent effective, and the Modern and Pfizer-Bioentech mRNA-based vaccines are 88 percent effective. He emphasized the need to focus on public vaccinations, and said that it was even more important now with the US Delta.
