The court's stay against the government's decision to start the Chardham Yatra

The Uttarakhand High Court has asked for a live broadcast of the Pooja Archana to be held at Chardham

Nainital: The Uttarakhand High Court has put a brake on the Uttarakhand government's decision to start the Chardham Yatra from July 1. The court has directed the government to broadcast live the puja-archana performed at Chardham.

Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court R.S. Krishnamurthy on the issue of public interest litigation and Chardham Yatra preparations during the Koro epidemic. Chauhan and Judge Alok Kumar Verma held a hearing in the bench, during which Chief Secretary of State Omprakash and other officials were virtually present in the court.

The government submitted the SOP issued on the issue of Chardham Yatra with an affidavit, which was rejected as a copy of the SOP of Haridwar Mahakumbh. The court said the SOP referred to the police presence in Haridwar district, which shows how serious the government is about preparations for the yatra.

Citing protests by the government against priests and priests, the court said it was fully aware of religious sentiments. The government argued that the live broadcast of the puja-archana at Chardham was not sanctioned in the scriptures, to which the court replied that there were no techniques when religious texts were written. Jagannath Yatra is also broadcast live.

Protecting the lives of thousands of people against the Delta Plus variant of the Corona is more important than the interests of priests and priestesses. The government should look at the wider interest, the court noted. The petitioners' legislator said the High Court had stayed the government's decision to start the Chardham Yatra on July 25.
