Terrorist attack in Sopore, Jammu and Kashmir kills two jawans, kills three civilians

Two policemen have been killed and three civilians injured in a terrorist attack in Sopore, Jammu and Kashmir. Terrorists opened fire on a joint team of police and CRPF in Armapora, Sopore on Saturday, killing a total of five people and injuring three others, including a policeman. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh said Lashkar-e-Toiba was involved in the attack on security forces in Sopore. The attacker terrorists have been identified. The terrorist attack in Sopore was condemned by political parties.

The militants attacked a joint team of CRPF and police in Sopore town of Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir and fled. However, security forces have cordoned off the entire area and are conducting further investigations. Paying homage to the two police constables killed in the attack, DGP Dilbag Singh said the conspirators have been identified and they will soon be put behind bars. He added that Sopore police station team Corona was on duty when he was attacked by terrorists.

Dilbag Singh said security forces have conducted a comprehensive operation in the area and the attacking terrorists will be picked up soon. We have information that this attack was carried out by Lashkar-e-Toiba. Rejecting reports of an increase in terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir in recent times, he said, "In fact, terrorism has decreased in Jammu and Kashmir." Police and other security forces have good control over these areas. However, the army has been alerted in recent times to the infiltration of arms into India by drones.

On the other hand, Jammu and Kashmir Governor Manoj Sinha and all the major political parties had condemned the terrorist attack in Sopore on Saturday. "I strongly condemn the deployment of security forces in Sopore, Baramulla and the terrorist attack on civilians," Sinha said. I offer my condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the attack. The conspirators of violence are the enemies of humanity.

Omar Abdullah, former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir and vice-president of the National Conference, said such an attack should be immediately condemned without any doubt or discrimination. Jammu and Kashmir BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur said that terrorist attacks had no place in Kashmir and killing of innocent civilians was a heinous and cowardly act.
