Sultana charged with treason, only 12 BJP leaders resign

Swords have been drawn within the BJP over allegations of treason against Lakshadweep Islands administrator Praful Patel and filmmaker Ayesha Sultana, who made anti-government remarks. In Lakshadweep, BJP state president Abdul Qadir has lodged a complaint against Sultana on charges of treason and only 12 BJP leaders have resigned.

In Lakshadweep, BJP president Abdul Qadir accused Ayesha Sultana of giving false news about Korona in the Union Territory during a discussion on the Malayalam channel. Sultana said the central government had used biological weapons to spread corona in Lakshadweep. State BJP president Qadir had registered a case against Sultana at the Kavaratti police station under treason and hate speech. But the BJP leaders were offended by his move.

In Lakshadweep, 12 BJP leaders resigned in protest of the case against Ayesha Sultana. BJP state secretary Abdul Hamid said the state president had lodged a false and inappropriate complaint against Chetlath's sister. We object to that. The BJP is fully aware that the actions of Praful Patel, the current administrator in Lakshadweep, are anti-people, anti-democracy and the people are very upset with him. Supporting Ayesha, the leaders wrote that Ayesha, like others, had expressed her views in the media.
