BUDAPEST: Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo, the world's top footballer and Euro Cup defending champion, moved bottles of Coca-Cola sponsor placed in front of a table at a press conference before the first match against Hungary. After which he raised his water bottle and said, 'Drink water.' The incident has cost the Coca-Cola Company an estimated Rs 2 billion (૪ 2 billion).

The two small bottles of the Coca-Cola Company, one of the official sponsors of Euro Cup football, have a protocol to be placed in front of the player or official at each press conference. According to which, even during Ronaldo's press conference, two bottles of Coca-Cola were traditionally placed. Ronaldo moved the bottles with great resentment and placed them downwards so that the camera would not be visible and advised people to drink water by lifting their water bottles. The video of the incident went viral on social media.

The market value of the Coca-Cola company fell by ચાર 4 billion (about Rs 3 crore) following the incident at Ronaldo's press conference. Shares of the company also declined by about Rs 4. Its value declined by 1.5 per cent. Reacting to the incident, the Coca-Cola Company said, "Everyone has the right to their drink preference." Everyone's test and need is different.
