New rules relieving ordinary citizens from the shackles of the RTO

The new rules on RTO will come into effect from July 1

New Delhi: Usually when the name of RTO comes up, long lines come to mind. There is news of relief for the citizens who push the RTO to make driving test. Now you don't have to visit RTO. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has made rules for an authorized driver training center. Here the candidate will be provided a high quality driving test in an accredited center. After clearing this test, the candidate will not be required to take the driving test while obtaining the driving license. In other words, you don't have to set foot in RTO.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways says the training center will have simulators and dedicated driving test tracks. The new rules will take effect on July 1. The ministry said the center would also be allowed to provide industry-specific specialized training. Lack of qualified drivers is a major issue in the Indian roadways sector and a large number of accidents occur due to lack of knowledge of road regulations.

The accreditation of an authorized driving training center will be for five years. It can be renewed. The notification said that the duration of the Light Motor Vehicles Driving Course at the Authorized Driving Training Center is at least 3 hours in four weeks from the date of commencement of the course. This course will be in both theoretical and practical form. The duration of Medium and Heavy Motor Vehicle Driving course will be 6 hours in six weeks. This course will also be in the form of Theory and Practical.
