Modi-Shah-Nadda met: Discussion on expansion in Union Cabinet

Amid speculation of a change in Uttar Pradesh politics, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP president JP Nadda met at the PM's residence on Friday evening. The meeting is now rumored to have discussed expansion in the Union Cabinet.

The meeting of the top three BJP leaders assessed the performance of the central government during the Corona period. The meeting signals major changes based on a review of the ministers' performance. The Union Cabinet has not been expanded since the Modi government was formed again in May 2014. In addition, there is speculation in Uttar Pradesh about cabinet expansion. With assembly elections in five states, including Uttar Pradesh, next year, the BJP is assessing its performance. Out of the five states, BJP is in power in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur while Congress is in power in Punjab.

The prime minister held a meeting with seven ministries at his residence for more than five hours on Thursday and assessed the work done by them during the Corona epidemic. The Union Ministers whom Modi visited included Dharmendra Pradhan, Prakash Javadekar and Hardeep Puri. The meeting, which started at 5 pm on Thursday, lasted till 10 pm, sources said. JP Nadda was also present at the meeting.
