Mini van blasts in Afghanistan: 7 killed

Kabul, Saturday 12 June 2021

A bomb blast near the Afghan capital, Kabul, has killed at least seven Shi'ite Muslims and injured six others.

It is not clear what type of bomb was used in the blast, which occurred in two minivans parked two kilometers apart on the same road in western Kabul. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The first blast killed six people, while two were injured, and the second killed one and injured four.

The area where the blast took place is mostly inhabited by the minority Hazara ethnic group who are mostly Shia Muslims. Shia Muslims are in the minority in predominantly Sunni Afghanistan. The local Islamic State group has declared war on them.

Meanwhile, the US and NATO are withdrawing their forces from Afghanistan, which is expected to continue till September.
