New Delhi, Dt

India has slipped two places in a year in the Sustainable Development Index. India was ranked 117th last year in the ranking of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (Sustainable Development Goals) adopted by the 16 member states of the United Nations in 2016 as part of the 2020 agenda, which has been ranked 112th, two places behind in the new rankings. Smaller countries like Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are also ahead of India in this ranking.

This has been revealed in India's Environment Report 2021. In addition to eradicating hunger and achieving food security in the country, India has been hit hard by challenges such as achieving gender equality, building infrastructure, promoting inclusive industrialization and promoting innovation. According to the report, India's overall SDG score is 41.5 out of 100.

"Jharkhand and Bihar are lagging behind in preparing to complete the SDC by 2020," the report said. Jharkhand lags behind in five of the 12 sustainable development goals, while Bihar lags behind in seven. According to the report, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh are states or Union Territories moving towards achieving SDGs.

According to the report, India ranks 14th out of 180 countries in terms of atmospheric performance index. Criteria such as atmospheric conditions, temperature, air pollution, sanitation and drinking water, ecosystem services and biodiversity were taken into account in determining this index.
