John McAfee, an American technology entrepreneur and antivirus guru, hanged himself in his prison cell on Wednesday. His lawyer, Javier Villalbas, said a Spanish court had approved the extradition of John McAfee to the United States and that he had since taken the step.

John McAfee had the option to appeal against the charges against him but he could not stay in jail for more days. The prison administration is currently trying to determine the cause of his death. Prior to launching the world's first commercial antivirus in 1987, McAfee had worked with organizations such as NASA, Xerox, and Lockheed Martin. He sold his software company Intel in 2011 and is no longer involved in the business. However his name is still associated with the software and it has 500 million users worldwide.

John McAfee, 75, is known for his quirky demeanor and videos. He was charged with tax evasion in Tennessee. He was also charged in New York with cryptocurrency fraud. He was arrested in October 2020 at the airport in Barcelona.

He also tweeted on October 15, 2020, saying, 'I am imprisoned here. Here is my friend. Good to eat. "Everything is fine. If I hang myself, it will not be my fault."
