Despite the second wave of Corona, 12.5 lakh employees joined the EPF in April

The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has added about 12.5 lakh employees to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) in April of the current financial year. According to the Union Ministry of Labor and Employment, despite the second wave of the Koro epidemic, the number of EPF employees grew by 12.5 per cent in April. In March 2021, 11.5 lakh new employees were added.

According to figures released by the Ministry of Labor and Employment, the number of employees leaving the EPF in April, 2021 has decreased by 3.31 as compared to March, 2021. The number of rejoining employees has increased by 4.5.

Out of the 12.5 lakh employees who joined the EPF in April, 4.5 lakh new members have come under the social security of the EPF for the first time. According to figures released by the ministry, companies registered in the states of Maharashtra, Haryana, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka topped the list with about 4.5 lakh employees during April, 2018.

The number of women employees who joined EPFO ​​for the first time in March 2021 was 1.2 lakh which has increased to 1.50 lakh in April, 2021.

It may be mentioned that in April, 2020, the number of employees involved in EPF was reduced to 2,6,8. This means that the number of employees leaving the EPF was higher than the number of new employees joining the EPF.
