China gives 100 million doses of corona vaccine to citizens: NHC

China has vaccinated more than 100 million people in the country by Sunday. With this, China has become the first country in the world to achieve this feat in the world's largest vaccination campaign against the deadly disease of corona. There was little enthusiasm for vaccination when China launched the vaccination campaign, but the pace of the vaccination program has accelerated in recent months as awareness among people to protect against new variants of the corona coming from abroad has increased.

China's National Health Commission (NHC) announced on Sunday that China had given 100 million doses to its citizens in just five days. However, the NHC did not say how many people were fully vaccinated when most vaccines are given in two doses. China's Xinhua news agency quoted the NHC as saying, "Since last March, the free corona vaccination program has gained momentum across the country. It took China six days to reach 100 million doses, while another 100 million doses were given in another 15 days. It took only six days to reach 300 million to 400 million doses.

China's state media praised the government for the largest vaccination campaign in New China's history. A total of more than 2.5 billion doses have been given to people in 120 countries around the world, according to a Bloomberg report. Earlier this month, China's foreign ministry said more than two million foreigners had been vaccinated in China.

China aims to vaccinate 80 percent of China's population against corona by the end of this year, said Zheng Yixin, deputy head of the NHC. The widespread vaccination campaign launched across China shows that the Chinese-made corona vaccine was safe. China launched a total of 21 clinical trials of the vaccine against corona last year.

According to the Xinhua report, four vaccines have been conditionally marketed in China so far and three vaccines have only been approved for emergency use within the country. Chinese regulators have not approved foreign vaccines such as AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna. In addition, China has exported vaccines to 30 countries and provided vaccine assistance to 30 countries and four international organizations. China has so far supplied more than 50 million doses of the corona vaccine abroad, Industry and IT Ministry official Mao Zunfeng said earlier this month.
