લાખ 12 million worth of luxury cars wrecked



New Delhi: The Philippine government has scrapped 21 luxury cars to send a message to car smugglers in the country. Because of this, the government is also in the news internationally. Earlier, he had also seized 12 luxury cars from smugglers.

The next Philippine government will unveil 21 luxury cars on June 15, valued at an estimated ૨ 1.5 million. Among the cars disposed of by the government are McLaren 80R, Porsche 311, Bentley Flying Spur. In addition, Mercedes SLK, Lotus Ellis, modified Hyundai Genesis Coupe, Toyota Solara and 12 Mitsubishi Jeeps also came under the wrath of the Philippine government.

According to the Bureau of Customs, all these luxury cars were smuggled into the country by various consignors. It was seized between 2013 and 2020. According to the Presidential Directive 2016-7 of the luxury car, the rubbish was removed. At the time, President Rodrigo Rowe Duarte issued an order to eliminate smuggled luxury cars in order to send a message that the government was serious about cracking down on smuggling.

Another reprehensible activity was carried out by the Philippine government this year. Earlier, it smashed 12 vehicles, including a BMW Z1, a Ferrari 30 Spyder and a Lamborghini Gallarado. The Bureau of Customs terminated it on February 9.

It has become a regular occurrence for the government to turn luxury cars into scrap in this way. The government has done this many times in the past. The victims at the time included Renault Five Turbo, Mercedes SL4 AMG, Opel Manta, Maserati Quattroport and countless others. There has been a mixed response from the government to this catastrophe. Some argued why this money should not be used for a good cause by auctioning it off.
