The world's largest video streaming website YouTube went down on the morning of May 19th. After being down for about an hour, YouTube started working again. The service was also downed by YouTube on Twitter. #YouTubeDOWN started trending on Twitter after YouTube went down.

Users were having trouble with both the app and desktop versions of YouTube. Users could watch videos or login. DownDetector also confirmed that YouTube was down. In the morning, as many as 89 people complained about YouTube going down on a down detector, and in half an hour, the number of complainants exceeded 8,000. About 90 percent complained that the video did not play.
