West Bengal governor says PM Modi is concerned about violence in the state

Kolkata, Dt.4. May 2021, Tuesday

TMC activists, who took to the streets soon after Mamata Banerjee's landslide victory in West Bengal, have resorted to violence.

While thousands of BJP workers and their families are living in fear in Bengal, PM Modi today telephoned Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar to express concern over the Bengal violence. Meanwhile, BJP national president JP Nadda is also visiting Bengal today. He is scheduled to meet the families of the injured BJP workers.

Earlier, the governor had sought a report from the Bengal police on the violence. The state police chief had visited the governor and assured him to stop the violence but no effect was seen. The governor said frightened people in the state were fleeing to save themselves. There is a torment of destruction. CM Mamata Banerjee handles this system.

"PM Modi has called me and expressed his concern over the state of affairs and he himself is saddened. I am sharing his concerns with CM Mamata Banerjee. Violence, robbery and arson are rampant in the state," the governor said.
