Uttar Pradesh District Panchayat Elections: BJP in Ayodhya, Mathura, Kashi

After the BJP's defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections, worrying news is also coming for the BJP in UP.

The Samajwadi Party is pitted against the BJP in the local body elections here. In this too, the BJP has been hit in Ayodhya, Mathura and Kashi, which have a special place in the BJP's agenda. In the results declared so far, the Samajwadi Party has won 24 out of 40 district panchayat seats in Ayodhya.

While Bahujan Samajwadi Party has become the largest party by winning 12 out of 33 seats in Mathura District Panchayat. While BJP has eight seats and Rashtriya Lok Dal has eight seats.

In Varanasi, out of 40 seats, SP is leading in 10 seats, BJP in seven seats, BSP in four seats and Independents in other seats. These results are encouraging for the Samajwadi Party.

In UP, BJP led by 699 and SP by 689 in 2357 district panchayat seats till Monday evening. Independents were ahead in 670 seats and BSP candidates in 229 seats.
