Supreme Court orders Center to rectify Delhi's oxygen shortage within 2 days

The Supreme Court has taken action against the severe shortage of oxygen in many parts of the country, including Delhi. Taking cognizance of the matter, the apex court has directed the Center to resolve the issue of oxygen shortage in Delhi within two days.

According to the court, the shortage of oxygen supply to Delhi should be met on or before the night of May 3. The court also asked the Center to prepare emergency stocks within four days. What is the daily items or the policy of oxygen supply for the states should be redesigned.

According to the Supreme Court, unless a central government formulates such a policy, no patient can be barred from entering any hospital and taking necessary medicines in any state. Even if he does not have a certificate of residence, even if he does not have an identity card, he cannot be deprived of the necessary things related to Kovid.

The court directed the Center to prepare a buffer stock of oxygen in collaboration with the states and decentralize the location of emergency stocks. According to the court, the hospital admission policy should be prepared within 2 weeks which should also be followed by the states.

The court said states and the center should direct all officials not to harass anyone seeking help on social media. Otherwise, the court will be compelled to take action on the ground of negligence. "We all know what the economic and social impact of a lockdown is, and we must take the necessary steps to meet the needs of the poorest people, especially before imposing any kind of lockdown," the court said.
