The apex court has given its verdict in the case of Corona's application to stay the counting of votes in the panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh. The court has allowed the counting of votes in the UP panchayat elections but has banned post-victory celebrations.

The court said in its order that it has taken note of the matters held by the State Election Commission. He does not feel the need to intervene in the Allahabad High Court order. According to the court, the protocol laid down against them is fully complied with. Strict curfew should be maintained outside the counting center and no victory procession should be taken out.

With this, the way has been cleared to conduct the counting of votes for the UP Panchayat elections on May 2 as per the pre-determined schedule. Arrangements will be made to test the antigen at each counting center. Apart from this, sanitation will also be taken care of at the enumeration center. Earlier, the court had asked the state Election Commission what the counting of votes needed to be, which could not be postponed. He also said that if the counting of votes is stopped for 3 weeks, nothing will happen. In its reply, the Election Commission claimed that the counting was decided by talking to a medical expert.
