Speaking of which .... this country will throw millions of doses in the garbage when there is a huge shortage of corona vaccine in the world

Hong Kong, May 25, 2021, Tuesday

There are many countries, including India, where there is a shortage of corona vaccine. While many African countries are screaming for vaccines, one of our neighbors is preparing to throw millions of doses of vaccine in the trash as the vaccine expiration date is approaching.

Officials said Tuesday that not enough people are registering to be vaccinated. The situation is such that Hong Kong is one of the few countries where more vaccines are available than needed. The population here is about 3 lakhs. People are reluctant to get vaccinated due to online propaganda and lack of government efforts to make the city virus free.

A member of the government's vaccine task force warned that the amount of vaccine they had could remain safe for the next three months. Then the amount of this vaccine will go bad. The first batch of Pfizer Bioentech vaccines are about to expire.

Thomas Sang, former controller at the Center for Health Protection, said all vaccines have an expiration date. They cannot be used after that. Pfizer's existing stock of vaccines cannot be used after September. "At a time when there is a shortage of vaccines all over the world, it is totally inappropriate for us to buy vaccines and then throw them away because of this," said Thomas Sang.

The stock we currently have is enough for the whole year. Hong Kong has bought 3 lakh doses of the vaccine from Pfizer and China's Synovac. However, the Chinese vaccine has not yet been approved by HU (World Health Organization). Hong Kong also booked 3 million doses of AstraZeneca, but this was later canceled, he added.

In Hong Kong so far only 19 per cent of the population has been vaccinated with the first dose. While 144 percent of the population has taken both doses. Health workers here are also scared of getting vaccinated. It was clarified earlier this month that only one-third of people in a city hospital had been vaccinated. The Pfizer vaccine has to be maintained in relatively cold weather. The vaccine goes bad in six months.
