Night curfew-lockdown has reduced cases in 18 states of the country, though more than 1 lakh active cases in 13 regions.

Addressing the media on Tuesday, the health ministry said restrictions like night curfew-lockdown in 18 states of the country have led to a decline in cases. However, there has been a steady increase in cases of corona in 16 states, which is a matter of concern. The health ministry said that in Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Telangana, Chandigarh, Ladakh, Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Gujarat Is declining.

Cases are on the rise in these states

According to the ministry, new cases are being reported daily in Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Orissa, Punjab, Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Puducherry, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh. The health ministry said there were 13 states in the country with more than 1 lakh active cases. The number of active cases ranges from 50,000 to 1 lakh in 6 states. There are 17 states with less than 50,000 active cases.

Corona positivity rate in the country is 21 percent: Dr. Balram Bhargava

ICMR Director General Balram Bhargava said the corona positivity rate in the country has come down by 21 per cent. He said 19,45,299 tests were conducted on April 30, 2021, the highest in the world. Bhargava said rapid antigen testing (RAT) should be allowed in all government and private health care facilities, for which no accreditation is required. We are also considering home testing.
