The bodies of 215 children were found buried on the campus of a school in Canada. Some of the bodies are of children up to 3 years of age. The school was once considered the largest residential school in Canada. The bodies were recovered last week with the help of ground-breaking radar, an official said. In addition, it was feared that more bodies could be found as investigations are still pending at several places on the school premises.

"The damage done to the Kamloops Indian Residential School is unthinkable," the official said. The Truth and Reconciliation Commission submitted a detailed report on child abuse at the institution 5 years ago. At least 3,200 children have died as a result of abuse and negligence, it said. It killed at least 51 children at Camloops School between 1915 and 1963.

The president of British Columbia, John Horgan, said he was shocked and saddened by the news. The Camloops School operated from 1890 to 1969. The federal government then took over its management from the Catholic Church. The school closed in 1978.
