Inflation on another front, air travel will be expensive from June 1

New Delhi, 29 May 2021, Saturday

One more piece of bad news for the people who are struggling in the midst of skyrocketing inflation in the country is that air travel is going to become more expensive from June 1.

The government has hiked domestic fares by 13 to 16 per cent with effect from June 1. The number of people traveling in the country has dropped sharply amid corona virus infections. This has also hit the revenue of the airlines. The government has allowed fares to increase to help airlines. This price increase will apply to the lower category.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has divided the domestic airlines into seven categories on the basis of which the fare has been fixed. The new ticket rate in each category will be as follows

- Rs 2600 to 7800 for 40 minutes journey

- 3300 to 7800 rupees for 40 to 60 minutes

- 4000 to 11700 rupees for 60 to 90 minutes

- 4700 to 13000 rupees for 90 to 120 minutes journey

- Rs.6100 to Rs.1690 for 120 to 150 minutes journey

- Rs 8700 to 24200 for 180 to 210 minute journey

Earlier in April, the government had decided to charge an additional Rs 40 for domestic passengers and Rs 114 for international travelers as an additional security fund.
