Nepal's politics has taken a new turn and President Vidyadevi Bhandari has dissolved parliament and called for by-elections. Elections will be held on November 12 and 19. President Vidyadevi Bhandari had rejected the claims of both Sher Bahadur Deuba and KP Sharma Oli to form a government.

Leaders of the Opposition Coalition reached out to the President with a letter signed by 149 MPs seeking the appointment of Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba as the Prime Minister and Vidyadevi Bhandari replied that she would consider the law in this regard.

According to Maoist Center spokesperson Narayan Qazi Shrestha, the President said that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had also come to claim a majority and the law would be taken into consideration.

Opposition parties have stated they will not run in the by-elections. The opposition coalition had registered a letter with the President's Office to sign Deuba as Prime Minister.
