Governor slaps Mamata Banerjee over Bengal violence at swearing-in ceremony

Kolkata, Ta. 5 May 2021, Wednesday

Trinamool Congress president Mamata Banerjee was today sworn in as the state's chief minister for the third time after a landslide victory in the Bengal elections.

However, the issue of violence in Bengal was also on the agenda during the swearing-in ceremony. There was a light tussle between the Governor and Mamata Banerjee over the issue. The incident has also raised eyebrows over the relationship between the governor and Mamata Banerjee in the coming days.

During the ceremony, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhade administered the oath of office to Mamata Banerjee for the third time. Will take immediate action to do.

However, Mamata Banerjee, in reply to the Governor, said that before my swearing in, it was the responsibility of the Election Commission to maintain law and order in the state. Thus, Mamata Banerjee indirectly shook hands saying that she was not responsible for the ongoing violence.
