Employment samosa model in UP: Medal bearers are selling tea, cutting wood!

- The middle class is always silent to maintain respect and self-esteem

Unemployment has been rising steadily since March following the Corona epidemic. Last month, 7.5 million people claimed to have lost their jobs. Jobs are also locked in if lockdowns are applied to protect people from the Koro crisis. Under these circumstances, those in Uttar Pradesh who have earned the respect of the region, the country and abroad with their sporting skills are now forced to sell samosas, do carpentry and sell tea.

The same hand that held the sword and created players with respect in the game of fencing from Uttar Pradesh to the rest of the country is now saw and pieces of wood. In order to live with dignity in unemployment they are forced to work contrary to merit. The hands that used to teach archery to many players now make samosas.

Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh has a fencing coach who has trained students for 7-8 years. At one time the sword in his hand was seen where the saw is today. Prior to the 2020 lockdown, Sanjeev Kumar Gupta used to train players from the regional level to the international level. His deeds printed in the press still give a glimpse of his past. Medals hanging on the walls of the house and trophies adorned on the shelf testify to his coaching. But being unemployed in the lockdown, he started carpentry to earn Rs 300 a day. Her 12-year-old daughter is also unable to attend school due to her inability to pay school fees.

Many such players who have made a name for themselves in boxing, archery are today making tea or making samosas. Under these circumstances, the question is whether the government's plans are enough to make the players shine in the media. The government has made arrangements to provide rations and money to the poor and runners in many places but the middle class of the country has always been untouched by such schemes. They are always silent for their own honor and self-respect.
