One more drug has been approved amid the ongoing corona crisis in the country. The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has approved the anti-coronary drug DRDO. A drug called 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG) developed by DRDO has been approved for emergency use. The DRDO prescribed this drug to Dr. Prepared in collaboration with Reddy's Laboratory. The responsibility of manufacturing this drug lies with Hyderabad based Dr. Reddy's Laboratories.

The drug is jointly developed by DRDO's Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS) and the Hyderabad Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB). According to the Ministry of Defense, clinical trials have found that 2-G drugs help hospitalized patients to recover faster. At the same time, this medicine will reduce the need for oxygen to the patients. According to the ministry, the drug will come in packets in powder form. Which patients will have to drink by dipping in water.

The doctors who developed the drug said that any tissue or virus needs glucose for growth. But if he doesn't get glucose, he is more likely to die. So we have created an analogue of glucose. The virus will try to eat it by understanding glucose and in the end it dies. This drug has been developed on the same principle.

At the same time, he said, the drug would not cause oxygen deficiency. Patients who need oxygen will benefit from this medication and the virus will die. He further said that the third phase trial of this drug has yielded good results, after which it has been approved for emergency use.

This medicine will be given to all types of patients. The drug can be given to patients with mild symptoms and also to severe patients. Children can also be treated with this drug. However the dose will be different for children.
