Delhi must get 700 metric tonnes of oxygen a day or else drastic measures: Supreme Court slaps govt

New Delhi, 7 May 2021, Friday

The Supreme Court has slammed the central government during an ongoing hearing on oxygen supply amid corona riots in Delhi.

"The central government should not force us to take a tough decision. The government must supply 700 metric tonnes of oxygen to Delhi every day. This supply will continue till there is no other change in our order," the apex court said. And the order to give 700 metric tons of oxygen is not for one day. The Center should not create a situation where we have to take a tough stance.

Earlier, the Kejriwal government in Delhi had demanded from the Center that if we get 700 metric tonnes of oxygen supply daily, we would be able to arrange 9,500 beds in Delhi. We assure that no one will die due to lack of oxygen in Delhi if there is adequate oxygen supply.

Hundreds of Corona patients have already lost their lives due to lack of oxygen in various hospitals in Delhi and now the Supreme Court has also turned a blind eye to the government.
