Corona's second wave to end by July, Science and Technology panel

New Delhi, May 20, 2021, Thursday

A three-member panel of the central government's science and technology department says the second wave of coronavirus infections in India is likely to end by July.

According to a media report quoting the panel, Corona's daily cases will drop to 1.50 lakh by the end of May and 20,000 by the end of June. Mininder Agarwal, a member of the panel and a professor at IIT, said the second wave has ended in states like Maharashtra, UP, Karnataka, MP, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Kerala, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Haryana, Delhi and Goa.

According to the model adopted by the scientists, the peak is yet to come in Tamil Nadu. It will be seen by the end of May. According to the report, out of East India and Northeast India, the peak is likely to be in Assam from May 20 to 21, Meghalaya on May 30 and Tripura from May 26 to 27. Peak is likely to appear on May 24 in Himachal Pradesh and May 22 in Punjab.

According to this model, the third wave of Corona can be seen in India in 6 to 8 months. Whose influence can be minimized. Because by then the number of people who have been vaccinated will be less. By October 2021, however, the third wave of transition will not come.

The model used by this panel, however, did not predict exactly when the second wave of Corona would arrive. He was also criticized for that. Using this model, the panel said it would come up with one lakh cases a day in April. This estimate was also incorrect and the number of patients remained high.
