Corona loses Rs 60,000 crore to Gujarat traders

Corona's second wave has taken a heavy toll on the economy. On the other hand, it is also having a detrimental effect on the country's economy.

The Confederation of Traders (CAT) has claimed that the corona virus has caused a loss of about Rs 12 lakh crore to the country's trade in the last 45 days due to lockdowns in different states of the country. The direct impact is as small as Rs 80 million. Falling on traders.

According to CAT National President BC Bhartiya and General Secretary Praveen Khandelwal, the country's trade has suffered a loss of Rs 7.5 lakh crore, while retailers alone have suffered a loss of Rs 4.5 lakh crore.

The union has appealed to the finance minister to announce a financial package for traders so that trade can be restored when the lockdown is lifted. Providing financial assistance to traders is not the sole responsibility of the Center. States should also participate in it. No provision has been made to assist traders in the relief packages announced at the time. GST dates should be suspended to provide relief to traders.

The union also demanded that the time limit for income tax and TDS be extended to August 31 and that banks and financial institutions be ordered to provide loans to traders at very low interest rates and easily. The government should also waive the charges levied by banks on digital payments. .This charge should be given to traders as a subsidy.

Kate claims that the lockdown has cost Maharashtra Rs 1.10 lakh crore, Delhi Rs 30,000 crore, Gujarat Rs 60,000 crore, UP Rs 65,000 crore, MP Rs 30,000 crore, Rajasthan Rs 25,000 crore, Chhattisgarh Rs 23,000 crore and Karnataka Rs 50,000 crore.
