At a speed of 185 kmph, 18 killed in 4 states, 410 stranded in Gujarat

The hurricane, which rose from the Arabian Sea, hit the coast of Gujarat at 8:00 pm on Monday at a speed of 185 km per hour. The hurricane killed 18 people in Karnataka, Goa, Kerala and Maharashtra. The hurricane killed six people in Maharashtra and damaged thousands of homes in all four states. More than 1.5 lakh people were evacuated in Gujarat.

Earlier, the hurricane wreaked havoc in Mumbai and six people lost their lives in Maharashtra. 3 Navy ships took the front line to rescue 410 people trapped in the hurricane in 2 huge boats in the morning.

According to the Meteorological Department, the process lasted about 2 hours. More than 1.5 lakh people were evacuated in Gujarat on Monday just before the hurricane's arrival. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on the phone with the Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat and the Vice-Governor of Diu Daman and inquired about the situation. He also assured all possible help from the central government to deal with the storm. Home Minister Amit Shah also spoke to the chief ministers about the situation.

All three on army alert

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had directed the three armies to remain on alert to counter the taunts. The Army had deployed a task force of 180 teams and 9 engineers in Gujarat.
