India is currently facing a devastating Corona epidemic. As the number of Kovid-19 patients continues to rise in India, most of the country's hospitals are facing shortages of medical oxygen and other essential medical supplies. However, many countries have extended a helping hand in India's fight against Korona.

Many countries and foreign agencies are sending the necessary medical supplies to India. Several UN agencies have also sent about 10,000 oxygen concentrators to India to combat the Kovid-19 epidemic. Along with this, about 10 million medical masks have also been sent.

Stephen Dujarric, a spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, said in a statement: "The United Nations is working with both national and local governments to tackle the Corona epidemic in India. UNICEF, WHO, UNFPA have sent about 10,000 oxygen concentrators, 10 million medical masks and more than 1.5 million face shields to India. UN forces have also purchased ventilators and oxygen production plants.

Other devices also sent

UNICEF is also providing a 'cold chain' device to India for corona vaccine. According to Dujarric, his support team has also sent a thermal scanner along with a testing machine and PPE kit to India. UNICEF and UNDP are also assisting in the monitoring of more than 1,75,000 vaccination centers in India.

According to the WHO, India accounts for 46 per cent of the world's coronavirus cases. Last week, 25 per cent of the world's deaths were in India.
